Dell Latitude 6430u Business Ultrabook Coming Soon

Pictures of the Dell Latitude 6430u surfaced yesterday and it appears Dell is lining up an Ultrabook that will compete with the likes of the ThinkPad X1 Carbon and HP EliteBook Folio 9470m. Like each of those already announced Ultrabooks the Latitude 6430u will have a 14-inch screen and be targeted at business buyers. Unfortunately it’s already at a disadvantage because according to Tweakers.net, the source of this leak, the screen resolution will be 1366 x 768. The ThinkPad X1 will have a 1600 x 900 resolution screen allowing for more real estate for viewing and doing work. Furthermore, the thickness of the 6430u will be a fairly frumpy 0.82” and 3.8lbs of weight, that’s thicker than both the ThinkPad X1 (0.68”) and Folio 9470m (0.78”). Nonetheless, competition is good and Dell hasn’t officially announced this Ultrabook so there may be more to it than we currently know. Here’s a rundown of the know specs so far:

Processor: Intel Core i3, i5 or i7 Ivy Bridge dual core processor
Screen: 14” 1366 x 768
Memory: up to 8GB of RAM
Storage: up to 256GB SSD
Thickness: 0.82”
Ports: Monitor out, two USB 3.0, Ethernet
Weight: 3.8lbs

The Latitude 6430u will be built of all aluminum to give it a rugged build. Availability should be in the June to July time frame, we’ll keep our eyes out for an official announcement from Dell regarding this upcoming Ultrabook.
