HTC Magic Android - On the Google Side in the Mobile War

The HTC Magic android is also known as the "Donut" and 'MyTouch 3G" depending on which network carrier you purchase your phone from. It is an android phone with full Google support. Features such as Gmail, Google maps, search and YouTube make it a power packed device. This phone is a clever innovation which combines HTC features with Google functions. This is, perhaps, the reason for the phone's remarkable success in the consumer market.

All Google software has been enabled on this phone for your convenience inclusive of integrated search, maps, Gmail, Google talk and YouTube applications. This makes the phone extremely user friendly, convenient and easy to use in terms of functionality.

The display type is a TFT capacitive touchscreen of 65k colors. It measures approximately 320x480 pixels, has a trackerball and an accelerometer sensor for auto rotate. The phone has expandable memory and an internal memory of 288 MB RAM and 512 MB ROM. As far as phonebook, photocall and call record entries are concerned, they are practically unlimited.

The phone certainly does not disappoint where data connections are concerned as it supports 3G, WLAN Wifi, Bluetooth, USB, Edge and GPRS. Another important feature is the camera which is of a 3.15 Megapixel resolution with autofocus and the option to make videos as well.

An added advantage of the device is that it's extremely lightweight and hence, easy to carry. Other positive points about this device are that the touchscreen is outstanding, messaging is easier than before, and there is an android update.

Although, the phone's released list of specifications is quite impressionable, there are some problems with this device. The keyboard is in need of some improvement and has no full QWERTY keypad which makes it a bit unbearable. Plus, the keys on the onscreen keyboard are too small and cluttered. Besides that the camera has no flash and there is no 3.5mm audio jack. These maybe minor issues but make a huge difference with relevance to convenience. Some people also complain about the battery life of the product which is no more than one or two days.

Concluding our case we must say that the device is great but with the suggested improvements can become even better. On the whole, The HTC magic is an excellent production by HTC and the innovative decision to integrate Google software with HTC features was quite brilliant as well but it tends to lack in some key areas.
