Samsung Galaxy Y - Android Comes With an Attractive Price Tag

Samsung Galaxy Y is an affordable touchscreen smartphone featuring Android. The phone supports quad-band GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 2G networks and dual-band HSDPA 900 / 2100 3G networks. It measures 104 x 58 x 11.5 mm and weighs only 97.5 grams. The design of the handset is sleek and compact.

Samsung Galaxy Y comes with a 3 inches TFT capacitive touchscreen display which has a resolution of 240 X 320 pixels. It supports 256K colors and has a pixel density of 133 ppi. Below the screen, there are 3 buttons for Menu, Home and Back. An accelerometer and proximity sensor are also provided. The device features a 2 megapixel camera which isn't great in today's world but it does the job. Users can take images up to a maximum resolution of 1600 X 1200 pixels and record QVGA videos at 15 frames per second. There is no secondary camera for video calls.

Users can access the internet on their phones using the built-in web browser which supports WAP 2.0/xHTML and HTML. Other applications on the phone include Quickoffice Document viewer, calendar, organizer, video/image editor and much more. Users can further download their favorite apps from the Google Play Store. Messaging options include SMS, MMS, Email, Push Email, Instand messaging. The phone's software comes with Swype Predictive text input which makes it easy to type long messages without any difficulty. The phone has an internal memory of 180 MB and 290 MB user available RAM. Further memory expansion is possible by inserting a microSD of up to 32 GB. Connectivity features include GPRS, Edge, Wifi with hotspot, microUSB v2.0 and Bluetooth v3.0 with A2DP.

Samsung Galaxy Y comes with a standard Li-Ion 1200 mAh battery which offers a rated stand-by time of Up to 850 hours (2G)/ Up to 540 hours (3G) and talk time of Up to 17 hours (2G) / Up to 6 hours 20 minutes (3G). Overall, the Galaxy Y might not boast of breathtaking features but it is a great option for first time Android users and comes with an attractive price tag.
