iPhone 5 Review: Galaxy S 3 Killer?

Now the dust has settled on the latest addition from Apple, here is what we have got to say... Apple have made some significant improvements with the iPhone 5 offering many innovative new features, firstly it's incredibly thin at just 7.6mm thick and weighs 20% lighter than the iPhone 4S at just 112g.

The faster A6 quad code chip which offers 2x faster performance and improved graphics compared to the previous A5 chip is faster than an ICS-run Samsung Galaxy S3, the screen is bigger while still being easy to navigate and the earphones are manufactured to the highest standard to fit like a glove.

Apple again have delivered that well-loved industrial look, as well as some fantastic new features. Despite being taller, it's still ergonomically flawless.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 has an SD card, unlike the iPhone 5. So, if you bought the smallest S3 (16GB) and spent another £35 on a 64GB SD card, you'd have 80GB. The most you'll get on the iPhone 5 is 64GB, and this will cost quite a bit. You should also be aware that App Store apps are getting denser all the time, as the hardware can handle graphically intensive apps and higher resolutions, so a 16GB iPhone 5 just isn't going to cut it for much longer.

What makes Apple one of the best, if not the best, is the customer service, If you have any problems, go to the nearest store and you'll be dealt with quickly, efficiently and with great courtesy. The new iOS 6 operating system also has more than 200 new features; a new Apple map app includes 3D detailing with turn by turn navigation and flyover option which shows a bird's eye view of major cities and landmarks. Siri has also been enhanced with more answers to questions and new features such as allowing you to update your Facebook status.

consumers expect a lot from Apple these days given the huge shadow it has cast over the mobile industry, so the slightest problem or flaw gets magnified and announced from the rooftops. There's also a lot more competition around than in 2007, so it's harder to revolutionise. There is only a slight change from the 2010 iPhone 4 rather than a new direction, however if it's not broke why fix it!

If you've already got an iPhone 4 or 4S, then the iPhone 5 will be great for you. There is still a lot to be considered and I'm yet to make my mind up! Both iPhone 5 & the Samsung Galaxy S3 are a masterstroke of innovative engineering.
