The Most Likely Release Date of the Apple iPhone 5

At the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference held in San Francisco from June 6 to 10, we expected the much awaited refresh of their iOS-powered smartphone the iPhone 5. However, Steve Jobs introduced the iOS 5 instead. Normally, this was usually the time of year when the Cupertino firm announced their next generation handset. However, a lot of enthusiasts were disappointed to see software unveiled in its place.

Back in the 20th of April, 2011, we heard rumors that the mooted mobile phone would be landing in September of this year. However, no one seemed to believe this prediction at the time. Now, it seems that these reports first seen on Reuters were accurate.

On the 6th of May of this year, Steve Jobs has reported to place a massive order to Pegatron. Pegatron is member of Apple's supply line. The order was rumored to be a whopping 15 million units. This bulk order was said to be in preparation for an autumn launch in September. In July 19, 2011, the Cupertino firm confirmed the existence of an all-new smartphone scheduled for the end of the third quarter. However, there was no way to confirm if Jobs and co were referring to the Apple iPhone 5.

Apple's Chief Financial Officer Peter Oppenheimer said in an interview that there's "a lot going on in the fall with iOS 5 and iCloud" but added there will be a "future product transition that we will not talk about today." This was the financial officer's response, when asked why he suggested a 12% fall in revenues during the third quarter of 2011. This was usually the time when sales went off the roof, due to the people buying their smartphones.

According to T3, the house of Jobs is currently hiring additional staff for the month of September. In addition, the US network operator AT&T enforced a holiday ban on its employees, due to the possible launch on the month mentioned.

Earlier this August, Apple's 4th generation smartphone received a price cut. This is usually done to get ready for a new product, namely the Apple iPhone 5. On the same month, we heard reports that the Cupertino firm was increasing the amount of orders from suppliers. This is usually done when a launch is imminent.

With all of these reports falling into place, it is most likely that the iPhone 5 will be announced sometime in September. Its launch date will most likely fall on October.
