What To Expect From The Upcoming Apple iPhone 5 - A Look At Its Rumoured Features

Is the iPhone 5 going to change everything again? As if the release of Apple's iPhone 4 wasn't already good enough, Apple has raised the ante again with its much anticipated launch of the iPhone 5. All Apple fans have been eagerly awaiting the release of iPhone 5 sometime this year 2011, but it still remains anybody's guess as to whether we would be seeing it really soon come October 2011, by this year, or perhaps next year 2012.

In the meantime, let's take a closer look at what we can expect to see in the iPhone 5. Since it has not yet been officially released, what we can provide is a brief outline of the expected features and specifications of the iPhone 5, based on consolidating various rumours and hearsay. In terms of physical outlooks, the iPhone 5 is likely going to be a tad larger than the iPhone 4, rumoured to have a 4-inch screen versus the earlier 3.5 inches of the iPhone 4. Most fascinating to hear is that the iPhone 5 may also sport a curved glass to act as a 3D display.

In terms of flash storage, Apple fans might be disappointed to learn that the iPhone 5 would only be released in the same 16GB and 32GB variants of the iPhone 4. Many were anticipating a 64GB iPhone 5, in order to catch up with its larger cousin the iPad 2. If it's any consolation, at least both the black and white colours should be released at the same time.

The iPhone 5 raises the speed bar even further thanks to its speedier A5 chip running at 1.2-1.5 GHz and a doubled-up RAM from 512MB to 1GB. This enhancement provides dual-core processing power as seen in the iPad 2. Taking into consideration that the current iPhone 4 is already pretty smooth and quick in its operation, then we can conclude that Apple is raising the bar even further with its iPhone 5 to keep competitors at bay.

The camera of the iPhone 5 also gets a significant boost from 5-megapixels of the iPhone 4 up to 8-megapixels. As for video camera fans, they would be delighted if the rumours are correct, stating that the current HD resolution of 720p would be enhanced all the way up to Full HD at 1080p. As for connectivity, 4G support would likely be included, as well as functioning without SIM cards. As for the crystal-clear and sharp Retina display of the iPhone 4 with a record setting resolution of 960x640 pixels (326 pixels per inch), it is unlikely that this can be improved much further in the iPhone 5, due to the fact that the Retina display already captures more detail than the human retina can see.

Finally on the software front of the iPhone 5, the latest iOS 5.0 would naturally be released very soon, which is expected to have further enhancements such as recognizing more multi-touch motions. The iMessage application would allow all users of iPod, iPhone, and iPad to chat with each other. Moving towards the trend of cloud storage also brings us the iCloud service, which allows wireless remote access to music, photos, apps, documents, and calendars stored in PCs, laptops, and mobiles.
