HP ENVY 6z Sleekbook with AMD Trinity on Schedule for June 20th Release

Last week HP announced it’s new lineup of Ultrabooks and among them was the ENVY 6z Sleekbook slated to carry the new AMD Trinity processor. The Trinity lineup of APUs and Sleekbook branding will basically be the AMD answer to Intel’s Ultrabook marketing onslaught. There were rumors last week that AMD would be delaying the Trinity release and its stock suffered because of this. However, an article in Barrons confirms that AMD is indeed on schedule with its new processors and that the new HP notebook will be set for an on schedule release of June 20th.

The ENVY 6z is going to start at the bargain price of $599, much lower than a majority of Intel equipped Ultrabooks and the lowest priced HP Ultrabook class system. The known specs for the base level ENVY 6z are as follows:

Processor: AMD Trinity APU
Price: $599
Screen: 15.6-inch 1366 x 768 resolution
Weight: 4lbs
Thickness: 0.78-inches
Memory: 4GB RAM
Ports: HDMI, 2 USB 3.0, 1 USB 2.0, SD card reader, Ethernet
Storage: 320GB Hard Drive
Wireless: 802.11 b/g/n
Since AMD focuses more on the integrated graphics performance we are expecting that the Trinity APU will outperform in terms of 3D graphics performance over equivalent Intel processors in Ultrabooks. Rumor has it that the NDA on reviews for the new processors lifts on May 15th so it is possible we’ll see some benchmarks and real world testing of these new processors in the coming week.
