HP Starts Selling Ivy Bridge Equipped Pavilion dv6t and dv7t Laptops

HP is now selling the new Intel Ivy Bridge equipped dv6t and dv7t Quad edition laptops. Pricing for the dv6t Quad Edition starts at $899.99 and the dv7t Quad Edition starts at $949.99.

The $899.99 price on the Ivy Bridge equipped dv6t comes with the following core specs:

Processor: 3rd generation Intel Core i7-3610QM Processor (2.3 GHz, 6MB L3 Cache)
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M Graphics with 1GB GDDR3 memory
Memory: 8GB DDR3 System Memory (2 Dimm)
Storage: 750GB 5400 rpm Hard Drive with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection
Screen: 15.6-inch diagonal HD BrightView LED-backlit Display (1366×768)
Optical Drive: Blu-ray player & SuperMulti DVD burner
Ports: 3 USB 3.0 ports, 1 USB 2.0 port, HDMI, VGA out, 2-headphone out, microphone in, media card reader
Weight: 5.66lbs
Dimensions: 14.88” (W) x 9.72” (D) x 1.16”
Upgrading the processor is an expensive endeavor, it costs $370 to upgrade to the fastest available Core i7-3820QM 2.7GHz chip. Graphics upgrade prices are more reasonable, it costs $75 to upgrade to the fastest Nvidia 650M with 2GB of GDDR5 memory. The Core i7-3610QM and Nvidia 650m combination would make for a very capable gaming laptop. Upgrading to the full 1080p screen (1920 x 1080) that we figure many people will want to do is a $150 price increase. The high resolution screen also has a matte finish, another enticement to make the screen upgrade.

The 17.3” screen Pavilion dv7t Quad core specs at the starting price of $999.99 is pretty similar to the dv6t’s so we won’t repeat them, however you do get a standard 1600 x 900 screen. The upgrade to the 1920 x 1080 matte screen is again $150.

Both the dv6t and dv7t 2012 editions have a new all midnight black design along with a backlit keyboard. Also new is a quad speaker system and sub-woofer with Beats Audio. Both use an all aluminum chassis just like their predecessors. There are already coupons available for these models to reduce the price, check out the details on those coupons here.
